Introducing Take Our Class to Work!

Canada lags behind in skills training and workforce development. Businesses want their future employees to come to them job ready, without investing in them at an early age. The Learning Partnership was created to build bridges between the world of work and education. Our longest standing program, Take Our Kids to Work has been guiding Grade 9 students in career exploration for more than two decades. Now we want to introduce Take Our Class to Work – integrated with the grade 10 Careers Studies curriculum, this program is a new way for business and education to collaborate, as students explore their career interests and learn from their future employers, making them more labour market ready.

Workplaces can get involved in this opportunity by hosting a Grade 10 class for a few hours out of a day, and showing them the world of work their organization has to offer. We provide a sample agenda, which you can customize to best suit your organizational structure. When you register you can select the ideal class size, as well as ideal months of the year and days of the week to participate – we will match you with a corresponding class in your community. This experience can make a significant impact on students’ future decision-making regarding educational and career paths. Employers - we hope you will help inform young people and educators about today’s changing and evolving workplaces and what it takes, today, to be successful in “life after school”.

We are currently recruiting for the 2016-2017 school year. Participating businesses also receive recognition for their involvement and dedication to their community.
